It is common for the color of
greases to have variation
between batches or lots and
packages after the manufacturing
process.
There are several factors that
cause this variation.
First, it is very common for
hydrocarbon-based greases to have
color variations. This is typically
caused by the hydrocarbon oils used
in the manufacturing of the grease.
The colors of the oils will have
some variation which will also
change the color of the final grease
product.
Secondly are the additive
packages in the formulation.
Anti-oxidants are used to
improve the resistance to
oxidation of grease and can
create a color variation.
Anti-oxidants can vary the
grease color during the
manufacturing process and over
time. When exposed to air,
sunlight, UV Light or
temperature the color of the
grease may change as well.
